Bio
Whitey Shapiro worked closely with Lee Strasberg at the New York Actors Studio and subsequently worked on a number of productions with David Mamet and William H. Macy at Goddard College in Vermont and Off Broadway in New York. After receiving his MFA in Directing, Whitey moved to Seattle in 1983, joined the Trish Lopez Actors Group, performed at the Seattle Rep and was cast in feature films such as the Assassins and The Vanishing. Whitey was vice president of the NW Screenwriters Guild and created its screen writing competition.
OTHER
Whitey served with the Air Police in Viet Nam during 1968-69.
From 1983-87 Whitey worked as a chemical dependency counselor at the Seattle Veteran’s Medical Center.
From 1987-2007 Whitey was a federal investigator for the U.S. Dept. Of Education, Office For Civil Rights.
